The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced today that total options trading volume for November was 344,377,310 contracts, 2.18 percent less than the November 2010 volume of 352,045,303 contracts.

The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced today that 390,982,436 total options contracts changed hands in October, a 14.32 percent increase over October of last year when 342,006,211 contracts were traded.

The Options Industry Council Returns to the IIT Stuart School of Business with 'Road to Wall Street' Program
The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced today the newest program as part of its university outreach, The Road to Wall Street: Analyze Your Options, will be offered Friday, November 4 at the Stuart School of Business at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago. OIC launched the Road to Wall Street program last fall in order to educate students about options and careers within the options industry.

The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced today that total options trading volume for September was 391,246,939 contracts, 29.52 percent higher than the September 2010 volume of 302,075,193 contracts.

OIC Announces Updated Study Shows Buy-Write Strategy Outperforms Buy-And-Hold
OIC today announced results and analysis of the performance of a buy-write strategy on the Russell 2000®, which found that over the 15 year period covered in the study (including the periods before, during and after the credit crisis), the buy-write strategy provided a higher return than a long RUT portfolio while reducing risk by almost 17%.

New Study Finds Strong European Demand For U.S. Listed Equity Options
OIC today presented the results of the study, European Demand for U.S. Listed Equity Options, conducted by Tabb Group and commissioned by OIC. The study found that 10 percent of U.S. listed options volume originates from Europe today, and this amount is likely to increase as a result of global regulatory efforts to reduce risk.

OIC Announces August Volume Nearly Double That Of August 2010
OIC announced today that 550,049,407 total options contracts changed hands in August, a 94 percent increase over August 2010 when 283,487,110 contracts were traded. In addition to August setting a new monthly record, several other records were achieved throughout the month, including three consecutive daily volume records.

OIC Announces Options Trading Volume In May Remains On Record Pace
OIC announced today that total options trading volume in May was 359,310,820 contracts. While this is down 11.47 percent compared to May of last year when 405,860,027 contracts traded, last month is still the second highest May on record only behind May 2010 which was a peak month for options volume, partly as a result of the 'Flash Crash.'

New Study Finds Financial Advisors Are Increasing Use of Options and Tend to Have Higher Assets Under Management
OIC today released the results of the Financial Advisor Benchmark Study, conducted by Bellomy Research, which finds options usage among advisors is on the rise and advisors who use options tend to have more assets under management than non-users.

OIC Announces April Options Trading Volume Down 7%
OIC announced today that 335,425,947 total options contracts were traded in April, 7.02 percent less than the 360,753,581 contracts traded in April 2010. While April monthly volume was lower in 2011 compared to 2010, last month remains the second highest April on record for volume.

OIC announced today that a new monthly total options trading volume record was set in March with 417,188,575 options contracts changing hands, an 18.86 percent increase compared to March of last year when 351,004,878 contracts changed hands.

OIC Announces Investor Education Day Schedule For 2011
OIC today announced its 2011 Investor Education Day (IED) schedule. This year there are five IEDs being offered in various cities to help investors develop their knowledge and ability to responsibly trade options in various market environments. The IEDs will be held in Costa Mesa, CA (March 12); New Brunswick, NJ (April 30); New York (September 12) and Chicago (October 22). The fifth IED will be held in Houston this fall.

OIC announced today that 341,207,420 total options contracts were traded in December, which is a 15.67 percent increase over December 2009 volume of 294,983,521 contracts.
